I Just Know

There are things that I know

I can’t explain it,

but I know

it nudges me

in the back—ouch!

No matter

the waterfall of words

that pour

from your mouth.

I just know…

My mind

may try to convince—it’s you!

my heart

may warn me—look out!

But my soul

tells me

the truth.

There are things that I know

I can’t describe it

but I know

like an unseen

thin piece of glass;

underneath the

sole of your foot.

I just know…

I may

try to hide it—there!

and dust my hands—too close!

but it grows

in me

like an incurable disease.

I just know…

There are things that I know

I can’t sing it

but I know

like the sensation

of ravenous hunger

eating me alive.

I just know…

I may

feel guilty to think it—stop!

I may

try to forget it—let it slip!

but like

a violent wave

it drowns me.

So I sit back;

comfortably

there’s no point in fighting

And so, I swallow

the rocks of truth.
